2019 Art Class Offerings at Twisted Fish

Several exciting opportunities to learn from professional artists are on the horizon for the new year. Beginning in January 2019, participants can learn about watercolor technique, wet sketching, figurative drawing, abstracted plein air, and representational oil painting.

Artists Charles Murphy, Ralph Annunziata, Dani Knoph and Robert Scudder will bring their talents to Twisted Fish. Interested parties should contact the gallery for pricing and details, including any supplies needed. Registration is required. Call the gallery at 231-264-0123.

February Classes

Dani Knoph teaches techniques of natural history artists in February at a Northern Wildlife Watercolor Workshop.

Embrace northern wildlife at this Watercolor Workshop February 16 with Dani Knoph. From 10 am to 1 pm, participants will learn the techniques of natural history artists and create vibrant watercolor illustrations. Attendees should bring quality photos of local fish, birds, flora or other wildlife of interest. Learn about laying down washing and capturing fine detail. All levels are welcome. Cost: $65.

Robert Scudder will hold a Representational Oil Painting Workshop on February 23. From 9 am – 4 pm, all levels of students are welcome to attend and will work from photographs to learn composition and how to draw imagery on canvas. Basic elements including value, color and design will be covered as well as addressing the question, “What is the artist trying to say with this painting?”
Cost: $125 with lunch included.

March Classes

WORKSHOP SCHEDULE CHANGE: 

Charles Murphy returns to Twisted Fish for watercolor and acrylic workshops.

Charles Murphy returns to Twisted Fish for an Acrylic Workshop March 1. Lunch will be included at this workshop running from 9 am to 4 pm. Class attendees will learn about adding luster to paintings in this glazing workshop. This class is appropriate for all levels. Cost: $150.

Ralph Annunziata teaches Figurative Wetsketch and Abstracted Plein Air on March 2nd…a combined workshop that will be held on that goes from 9 am to 5 pm. This is a change in the original schedule due to weather/ conditions. 

Interested in light, shadow, and form? Ralph Annunziata will lead a combined Figurative Wetsketch and Abstracted Plein Air Workshop, Saturday, March 2. From 9 am to 5 pm, students will focus on the form, light and shadow of the abstracted landscape and hone their skills in capturing the finer points of  the human form. Seasoned artists should bring their own easel and will be treated to lunch. Cost: $125. Recommended reading list:
