“Into the Moment” by Tony Macioce: August 16-October 5

Into the Moment: August 16-October 5

The exciting abstract impressionist paintings of Antonio (Tony) Macioce are new to northern Michigan. Tony captures the moment in his paintings with vivid colors and fluid brush strokes.

Tony shares, “Taking inventory of what I have done in my many years of painting, I realize that I have yet to arrive at a definite style, but one that is constantly changing in both technique and subject.

It’s the expression of the moment…whatever inspires me to pick up the brushes in the first place. Not surprising, I am not at all frustrated by it. On the contrary, having only one form of expression, would make painting predictable and dull … without new revelations and, certainly, without adventure. Indulging in a constant state of change and discovery gives rise to new emotions and sensations that keep me excited.

Likewise, my approach to color is instinctive rather than predetermined. After three years of studying to be a Chemical Engineer, I opted for a Fine Arts degree, so I want painting to be anything but an exact science. Also adding to my enjoyment, is that almost all of my paintings are from my imagination and from my memories of people, places and things, which allows me much more freedom of expression.

But, whatever my approach, one thing is unmistakable; my art reflects the passion and the colors of my Italian heritage.”
