Watercolor Technique with Mary Guntzviller

Always up for teaching new techniques, Artst Mary Gunztviller returns this spring for more Watercolor fun. Join us for a workshop to explore areas such as tone, temperature and tree studies.

Per Mary…

“For this watercolor class, we will explore painting birch, maple, pine, and oak trees to create a cohesive, organic-looking landscape. There will be lots of demonstrations, and reference photos. We will cover the shapes and how to paint different trees. We’ll look at naturally anchoring a deciduous tree trunk into the ground and adding leaves. Color temperature and glazing will be discussed to place trees in the background or bring them into the foreground. After lunch (included) we will explore the students’ choice of topics or do a step by step painting together.”

Mary teaches with a loose style that allows for her students to direct the course of this day-long course, but she comes with a vast knowledge of the medium to insure that you leave learning something new. She’s great when the “how is this done?” is thrown her way so don’t be shy in the asking.

10am to 5pm with lunch provided by the gallery. (Please inform staff of any dietary issues when reserving your spot.)
