DESCRIPTION:“Painters are a rare breed. We don’t give up. Every time we pick up a brush\, painters attempt to produce visual images no one has ever seen. Sometimes the outcome is less than successful\, but EVERY effort is a new experience\, a new chance to expand our skills.” – Mary Guntzviller \nQuick witted and ready to dive in\, Mary Guntzviller is an engaging instructor who encourages her students to ask the questions to learn. She describes this workshop as… “An experimental class with plastic “paper”. Coral reefs appear before your eyes! Add fish and boom… A painting!” \nDuring the morning session\, students will learn the techniques necessary to paint on Yupo. After the lunch break\, Mary will lead students into an exploration of coral reef scenery. (PLUS any & all of your favorite colors)\n\nIf you are buying paint for the first time\, I recommend  Van Gogh brand watercolor tubes. \n\nUltramarine blue \n\n(VanGogh = Ultramarine Deep)\n\n\nA true yellow\n\n(VanGogh = Permanent Lemon Yellow)\n\n\nA true red\n(VanGogh = Permanent Red Deep)\nCerulean Blue\n\n(VanGogh = Cerulean Blue)\n\n\nPermanent Orange (mixing a true orange is difficult)\nQuinacridone Rose (bright pink color)\nBurnt Umber (Dark Brown\, can be mixed with Ultra Blue to make black)\nSap green (easily mixed by combining Cerulean & Yellow)\nRaw Sienna (Yellow ochre is a similar color\, but it is very opaque and tends to “muddy” mixtures\nBRUSHES (Any brushes rated for Watercolor or Acrylic are fine to start)\n\nYou will need\, at a minimum\, 3 brushes \n\nSmall pointed round\, #6 or #8\, \nFlat\, ½” or ¾”\nA bigger brush for washes (If beginner\, I’ll lend you one until you understand what to buy)\nSmall (⅛” or ¼”) flat\nRigger or Script brush for tree limbs\nYUPO “paper” (Any weight of paper is fine\, comes in a pad)\nPALETTE with at least a 10” x 10” mixing area\n\nYou will need\, at a minimum\, any flat WHITE surface to mix colors; Styrofoam dinner plates work really well.\n\n\nBOARD (at least 13”x16”) to hold w/c paper. Bring more than one\, if you can.\nWATER CONTAINER (for rinsing brushes; “cool whip” type container works)\nMASKING TAPE (3M or Scotch Brand)\nPAPER TOWEL\nSPRAY BOTTLE with adjustable nozzle\, for water\nPLIERS for opening tubes of paint\nHUMOR (maximum amount; no minimum here!)\nBIG BAG to carry everything!!!!!\n\nOTHER ITEMS (fun but not necessary) \n\nPEBEO DRAWING GUM (Preferred masking fluid…DON’T BUY any if can’t find)\nRubber Cement PICK-UP (for removing masking fluid)\n\n  \n
