The Twisted Fish, voted northern Michigan’s Best Gallery by Traverse Magazine again in 2026, is excited to welcome back Chilean born pianist and composer, Benjamin Furman, and to introduce original Americana artist, Bob Streit, to northern Michigan.

Born in Santiago, Chile and educated at Boston’s Berkeley College of Music, Benjamin Furman has spent the last decade living, gigging and recording in New York City and in jazz clubs up and down the east coast. In the course of a Benjamin Furman set latin jazz dominates, but you’ll hear strains of rock, folk, classical and tango spicing the mix. On the 20th he will be performing an array of original compositions, as well as re-imagined South American and American standards. “Benjamin has played some big shows for us under the pines and we are super excited to have him back. His music is romantic and soothing. His voice is smooth and sweet. And, he is such a good soul. Folks are going to love his set,” says Gallery Director, Lynn Streit.
Bob Brings it at 7:00:
Bob Streit writes and performs Original Americana: roots rockin’ love songs, story songs and ballads set in the American Outback, set in his windswept psyche and in your breaking heart; challenging songs, comforting songs; dark of night, step into the light songs. Home now in Elk Rapids, MI after 8 years in the Arizona sun, Bob is a SAG actor, writer and musician with 2 full band CD’s available online: For My Better Angels, Parts 1 & 2. “I may be a little biased as his sister, but I can tell you sincerely that my brother is a witty, articulate and compassionate songwriter and a very compelling performer. He will make you laugh, cry, sing along and pull your lover close in the course of a show. So, we are proud to be introducing him to our audience come August 20th,” added Lynn.
Relax to Music Under the Pines
The Twisted Fish encourages guests to come early, bring a picnic meal, lay out a blanket or folding chairs, relax and enjoy the show.
We “pass the hat” and encourage folks to support our entertainers with a donation, but the scene Under the Pines is decidedly low key and chill.
