Holiday Ornament Knitting with Kate Husband: Mini-Christmas Balls

This knitting course includes 2 sessions (9:30 – 11:30 & 1:30 – 3:30pm) in one day; giving students a break for lunch off site.

The miniature Christmas balls are knit in the round in an array of colorwork patterns using fingering weight wool. Using Arne & Carlos’ advent pattern, we will knit the first design (of 24) all in one day.  The pattern is designed with a separate colorwork pattern for each day of advent. During this course, students will learn how to hold two yarns at once and read charts, preparing them for larger stranded colorwork projects.

Skill level: Intermediate (comfortable knitting in the round, increases, decreases).

Students to bring own supplies:

• Fingering weight wool in two contrasting colors (ideally red & white or your favorite holiday colors)
• Stuffing material
• US 5 (3.75 mm) double pointed needles
• Small crochet hook
