As part of our, “Let’s Talk Art” lecture series, art activist and artist Paul Welch spoke at our gallery July 10 to a rapt audience of 20 people, who enjoyed his singular viewpoint on art. He discussed various style variations and the emotion of abstract art, use of texture and detail. This was a great accompaniment to our newest exhibit From Within II, running throughout July, with its focus on abstract art.
Paul is well-known in our region and has taught many local artists, and is engaging, jovial and interactive. Little known fact: Paul’s father was an artist as well, mingling in art circles that included Andrew Wyeth, when the two were just starting out.
In attendance at the event were several local artists including: Cherie Correll, Daniel Heron, Joe DeLuca and Joani Braun.
As Oscar Wilde said: Art is the most intense mode of individualism that the world has known.
Next up in the “Let’s Talk Art” lecture series is Valerie Allen, speaking July 29 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. She will share her unique viewpoint on art appreciation.
