Gerald Moore is after the aesthetic essence of things found outdoors, which makes his oil paintings close to nature, but not copies of nature. His works are all about surface texture caused by light. He could be called an expressive realist, but his work also involves the intellect to get at feelings. He also believes in the power of the abstract.
